Dear Club Members,
Over the last few weeks I have been approached by numerous people to explain how the NEW BCU syllabus affects the club. The main concerns were:
- How does affect River Access.
- What does it mean for current awards? How do I move forward?
The New BCU syllable has nothing to do with River Access as this is imposed by the Basin Health and Safety policy. The Basin have not adjusted their H&S to reflect the new BCU changes and we are not sure when this will happen. So currently, to paddle on the river with out supervision you will be required to hold either the old BCU 3 Star award to a new BCU 3 star award.
The new Syllabus has forced us to make some minor modifications, but in general we just carry on as we have in the past. Below is a diagram that highlights the training Progression that we will encourage members to follow; it also outlines the progression from the old star awards.
We have tried to keep this as simple as possible.
