    Hire car with roofracks

Hi - does anyone know where you can hire a car with boat carrying capacity?

I'm looking to head down to Devon next weekend, and would like to take my boat down as well if possible... Car hire companies either don't seem to have vehicles or roofracks, or actually don't even permit it.

    Thanks

    Dave

Consider hiring a van - could be cheaper and big enough to put your boat inside rather than on top.

Or use the legendary Handirack- we've managed four boats on one of these with no issues so just taking one will be a no-brainer...

Car hire companies don't do roof racks. if you ask them, they will tell you not to use them as well.

your solution is to either hire a big estate / van where you can fit your boat inside or get yourself some inflatable roof rack that adapts to any model of cars (as long as they have 4 doors)

    Re: Hire car with roofracks

    1) Sarah found a hire car company who's policy on roof racks seemed to be 'do what you like, just don't damage the car' - see if she has the details.

    2) The club has a set of inflatable roof racks, but i recall they have a hole. If ya could patch them they might be good to go.

    3) anne found that streetcar allows roofracks as long as they are proper ones that go with the car. streetcar works out to be quite pricey with a per hour charge and a milage cost also, but its an option.
