    Wet suits

    Hi all

I'm due to start the beginners course next week.

Thinking it's probably going to be pretty cold so was considering buying a wetsuit.

I saw the mention on the details about getting one that allows lots of arm movement.

Are there any particular brands/models that people use and can recommend for kayaking?

    Hi James,

First off, welcome to the club!

I started in Feb and did exactly what you are talking about. Rather than shell out a fortune on a fancy wetsuit I ended up getting a cheap one from decathalon (http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/ck500-black-33502505/). I've worn this every time I've paddled since, and it's done a great job of keeping me warm and hasn't shown any signs of starting to fall apart (which lets face it is a worry when you spend less than £25 on something like this!). If you do get one, make sure it is sleeveless as you don't want your arm movement restricted when you're paddling.

    See you next week.

    Matt

You might also think of a thermal top, such as this one: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/thermal-top-ls-black-08-33267530/
