    Re: 2* trip 9th march

    Hi Roger and Alison,

this trip is to get the 2*, as it is part of the assessment and will be at our level, fell free to join us. We still have to do a lot of the organisation, we haven't decided where to go and what time we leave etc.

    Helen:

Thanks for kicking this off Gudrun.  Hope you are succeeding with delegating some tasks.  I have put the date in my calendar.

I can take 4 boats including one for myself and three passengers.

I forgot I will be bringing Big Phil along so one space gone already in my car.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

    Hi everyone,

Apologies for not posting sooner - it's been a crazy week! I'd like to help out any way I can. Unfortunately I don't have my own transport, but is there something else I can contribute?

I think if we can make a firm decision on where we want to go then everything else can start falling in to place. There've been a lot of excellent suggestions - is there a group preference yet?

    Hi Gudrun,

Just to confirm Sam and I will sort out food etc.  I will also look into the emergency stuff, e.g. local hospitals and kit we need to bring if no one is doing this?

     Cheers

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

I'm free that weekend  if you are looking for any extra helpers but I would need transport for a boat (I'm happy to cycle to the start etc if it makes life easier but my boat hasn't got its own bike yet and it needs stabilisers)

    Hi Guys,

Let me know if you need any spare roof racks for kayaks. I will try to get something sorted.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

The list of people comming I have is as follows:

    Coaches

    Helen I

    phill

    Ian

    joanna

    Jon Goodliffe

    Dimitris

    Sarah W

    and the 2*

    Gudrun

    David

    Rob (me)

    Nick

    Samantha

    James

    Malcom

    Gareth

    Russel

    Rodger

    Alison

    Joe

Some other people have posted with out explisitly saying they want to come and I am assuming they do not.  If this is not so please post and explisitly say you want to come.

Gudrun is soring out the logistics and lifts etc.

On the basis of the above I have requested lary reserve for us 14 kayaks and 2 open canoes (2 people to a canoe) as agreed in the pub.

If you are intending to bring any of your own kit the please let me know so I can feed this on to what we need to borrow from the basin.  Currently I have to assume that each person needs a lifejacket and and cag/windjacket.  Each cannoe needs a spray deck and a paddle and each canoe 2 cannoe paddles.  I rather expect the coaches have more of their own kit than the 2*s.  Can anyone (especially the coaches) let me know if you are able to bring:

    A.  a first aid kit

    B.  Slips

    C a throw rope.

    D.  Extra dry bags to keep lunch in.

    Regards

    Rob

Re: 2* trip 9th march - one more thing

please may i come along for this if there us any more room.

i have a boyancey aid and a cag. i can borrow a spraydeck, or would'nt mind swapping over and going in one of the canaidien canoes for part of the way. it would help me pass my 2 star course and i would be very gratfull, even gratfull enough to bring a load of cakes for everyone. i hope the group might be able to squeeze me in.

i still hav'nt heard of the hertford loop but i think that if it that far north then it will be the river stort as the river lea stops around waltham abbey, but i could be wrong about that.

    cheers.

    china.

Re: 2* trip 9th march - one more thing

I think the 2 are the same for the Hertford loop see

    http://wikipaddle.org/wiki/River_Lea_%28Hertford_Loop%29

All are welcome to come, provided there are boats and transport.

Gudrun will be be able to detail the transport situation.

The plan with the canoes is to swap over people at half time so that everybody gets enough of a 2* trip for the assessement.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

I am not certain now that I will be able to come on the 9th March.  As much as I would love to do a canoe trip on hartford loop I am quite busy around that time and I think I might have got myself over booked.  Can I please confirm nearer the time, I understand if you need to know in order to sort out the logistics but If i need to make the decision now it will have to be a no.

    Hi Rob,

The club has two sets of split paddles, which we can take. We can also take one or more of the club throwlines. I think it would be worth booking these early along with the rest of the kit.

I don't have a first aid kit, but I'm sure Sarah and Helen will bring theirs.

Finally, Dimitris and I can bring combined 5-6 small-to-medium sized drybags, as well as 2 bigger drybags (30L or 40L ones) which can stay in the canoes. They should be enough to hold some spare thermals and food for a number of people.

Dimitris and I won't need any other pieces of kit, apart from boats and paddles.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

I have full kit for me - except boat + paddle.
I will bring a first aid kit, a (non-waterproof) camera, and 2 spare (13L) dry bags.

I can also offer a piece of sleeping mat to cut squares for kneeling mats for the open canoes...
