Re: Coaching weekend with Ray Goodwin?

There are roughly 10 people who sowed interest in this thread.

If we split into two groups of 5 then it's £40 per person per day (ie £80 for a weekend) provided we can take the basin's canoes.

Given that he is a top coach I don't this is too expensive for a weekend.

    What do people think?

Not an option I'm afraid – none of the basin boats has been fitted for whitewater paddling…

I know Luke requested funding to buy kit to fit some boats for whitewater paddling but I don’t think anyone really knows what the committee decided on this back in June…

OK - so its looks as if it's £80 a day, but Dimitris is right that 2 groups of five would be more efficient. Want to discuss this next Tuesday?

The Committee decided we would fit boats out as required.  Apologies ffrom the Committee for not getting budget information finalised but Kate has been very busy and has only recently had time to circulate the minutes and liekwise Lars to set the budget.  However, we would not be prepared to fit out that many boats all in one go and even if we did transport would be difficult.

£80 is in line with KYO costs for a weekend whcih are typically £160 per weekend so it sounds reasonable given he is a top coach.  That said, do we need a top coach when the majority of us are copmlete novices in open boats on white water?

I think Helen has a point. Maybe we should check whether we can get a better price with Kayakojacko or another coach for our first trip. We could spare the top coach for later when we're more experienced and can make better use of him.
