    Re: 2* trip 9th march

Rob - Let's catch up on Tuesday night and we can do a full risk assessment together to come up with a list of kit.  Just for a heads up - there will be no kit requirements that we cannot source with the stuff the Club or Basin owns.  Though most of the coaches have their own stuff as well.

I also have more dry bags than you can shake a stick at so will be able to keep all the cake dry!

Gudrun - we can also run through the list of people coming and look at how we are doing for transport or if we need to hire a van.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

I have a first aid kit and my waterproof camera that I can bring with to get lots of piccies.

As for dry bags between Dan and I we have a fair few  - some never used even!

I will need a paddle from the club kit but thats it (unless I decide to paddle a dancer as opposed to my boat)

Sarah (yet again using Dans account)

    Hi all

Following pub chat I'd love to join you all. I don’t have any gear but happy to help with transport, 4 door with tow bar.

    Team

I sent Mike at the Basin an email asking about: trailers; open  canoes, dancers; if open canoes fit on trailers.

Was that everything?  Sorry Gudrun, I lost my my piece of paper!

    ALL PLEASE NOTE:

The club rules mean we each have to pay 2.50 for the use of equiptment on 9 Match.

    See:

David, can you factor this in to the funds you collect and also arrange to pay Lars on the Tuesday before the trip.

    Rob

The spray decks and paddles that we use are the clubs as oppposed to the Basins.

I'm hoping for a mild day and perhaps the 1st day of the year where I don't need to use a cag but agree that it may be good to have use of these if its raining.

Love many, trust few and always paddle your own canoe

Paddles we should not be short of, but, does the club have 16 spray decks?

Re: 2* trip 9th march - what we need from the basin

My attendance is still subject to work but if I can make it I don't need any kit other than a boat.

Preference will be to paddle a canadian for the duration so will need also need club (if we have open canoe paddles) or basin open paddle. This may also affet how many open -v- kayaks required?

By the way how far is the paddling - all in?

    cheers,

Re: 2* trip 9th march - what we need from the basin

Mike has confimed that 9th is fine and does not clash with any Basin activities so we are ok for Baisin boats, cags and BAs.

The Basin has two trailers.  One small hitch is the large one requires a heavy duty vehicle to tow it. We can have a look and do som maths on whether we actually need it.

Gudrun - I can't email you though Faceook at work as our Websense blocks it.  Email at work is better.  We can disucss in the pub.

    Re: 2* trip 9th march

    Hi Gudrun,

As we talked about last night, I'd be keen to join in the trip.  I've missed most of the planning (sea kayaking trip in Malaysia) but happy to help at this late stage where I can.

    • car with roof racks & enough space for 3 others (4 at a push). If required, I can arrange a vehicle with tow bar instead?
    • waterproof camera to get some trip snaps
    • plenty of dry bags
    • OS. maps

More than happy to fit in with either canoe/kayak, but will also need paddle/pfd/spray deck booking.  Are you colating boat numbers or shall I post to Larry seperately?

See you next week for the mini open canoe trip

    Thanks

    Justin

Re: 2* trip 9th march - equiptment you need to bring

    All:

Please all bring along with you on the day in addition to the kayaking gear you usually bring on a Tuesday night:

    A flask.

A supply of water for youself during the paddeling (the sun may be out)

    Spare thermals

And do not forget to bring dry cloathes to change back into once the trip is over.

Gavin is writting a info sheet which will spell all this out and detail the logistics which he will post here soon...

I have one final item of kit we need to find outselves:  A large or 'Golf' umbrella.  We need this as Helen would like to give a demonstration of Tantric Kayaking (that is kayaking with out using your hands) during the trip Smile
