    Susi

On the topic of getting outside coaching i can't afford  £150 for coaching,  the same goes for Dan who may not be paddling at all depending on what the water looks like.  Please let us know as soon as possible as we will need to cncel the van booking etc if the only way of going i to pay the extra

     Thanks

p.s. am more than happy to ensure that our on coaches are not out of pocket by going on this trip but suspect keeping them fed and watered is a lot less than £150.

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for your quick response.

I didn't mean to cause any panic and it is very unlikely to come to a point where you and Dan will have to cancel.  If there aren't enough people who want to get a coach then some of the people who signed up to the trip more recently may have to drop out.  This will be unfortunate but doing it on a first come first serve basis seems the only fair way to do it?

Does anyone have Andy or Richards numbers?  If so can they ask them to let me know ASAP if they're coming.

    Thanks

    Susi

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    wendys:

    from the 3rd july

    ok here's the deal

there will be a beginners trip , lead by mark goldstone, ably assisted by myself, helen, geoff and neil - the people in this group are : Keir, Myles, Susie *2, cliff, richard, sarah, dan and andy

I am expecting we will run one trip on the lower on the saturday and then again onthe sunday. If there is no water release then there maybe a problem as in august there is unlikley to be much other water around !

Please note the beginners will be expected to pay for marks expenses ( not beer!)

the others: Danger, tom, emma, larry, biltong, kate, yatsey, ian, joanna, anne and dimitris will need to think about what they want to do.

Those who want to go it alone can do so, those who want to hire a coach can do so. I am trying to find out about other level 3 coaches in north [wikipedia:wales] who might not be too expensive and would be prepared to take a group on the lower. Please let me know if you want a coach so i can gauge numbers

    wendy

     Wendy / Mark,

Are either of you aware to changes to the intro to white water course group and are you still happy that it will run providing this group cover expenses for Mark and get ourselves + kit to [wikipedia:wales]?

There seems to have been some confusion about who is being covered by club instructors.

    Thanks,

    Myles

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Hey

First of all sorry for being not intouch before now.......have been a bit internetless of late. I'm playing around down in the south-west at the moment and have my kayak plus kit etc.. with me and will meet you guys over in [wikipedia:Wales] on the friday night. The only thing I need is a helmet (hopefully Sarah will take one in the van for me but could you throw one in just in case). So transport wise I'll be coming independently but have space for lifts back and one extra boat if that helps anyone. More than happy to chip in for Marks expenses, thanks for trying to organise this cafluffle

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Hi guys,

This is the final list of people coming:

People with a Coach (Mark, supported by Wendy, Helen, Geoff, Kate & Neil)
    Keir,
    Myles
    Susi
    Susie
    Sarah
    Dan
    Andy
    Richard

People Doing their own thing (ie. Not coach or on river support)
    Danger
    Larry
    Ian
    Yatesy
    Emma
    Biltong
    Tom
    Anne
    Tim
    Gavin

Some of these people have expressed an interest more recently without posting on the website so if they want to paddle with others people in this group they may want to chat with them on Tuesday. Also as previously discussed these people will be looking after themselves and they recognise that this is their choice and that they are not formally part of the THCC trip.

I propose (or have been told it’s already arranged) for people to give lifts as follows. You can swap between yourselves if departure times etc don’t suite you:

Geoff (leaving early Friday): Neill, Larry, Kate
    Danger: Susie, Yatesy
Gavin (hiring a car): Susi, Tim
Sarah (hiring a transit van and leaving mid-day Friday): Dan, Ian
    Emma: Tom, Myles, Biltong
Anne (hiring car but can’t take boats): Richard, Keir (I suggest this car put their boats in Sarah's van).

Could all those going in Anne's car please give Sarah full details of the boat they wish her to take for them in her van, including details of any additional kit.  Sarah and Dan will pack up the van and leave from the basin with all this gear on Friday lunchtime.   Thanks again to Sarah and Dan for doing this!

For driver's information - I think details of the campsite are posted earlier on in this thread.

Really looking forward to it and thanks to all for help in organising.

    Susi

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

I would suggest that anybody who do not have their own helmet should try one on tomorrow night so that they know what size they will need. Also, be sure that somebody has booked the bits that you need... (boat, paddle, helmet, BA, deck, cag?) and that you KNOW who is taking them to [wikipedia:Wales]. Do not assume that "The Club" will take kit for you. Do not assume that "The Club" will take spares. Do not assume that if somebody is taking a boat for you, that they will take anything else.

    susie,

    If you goto http://towerhamletscanoeclub.co.uk/content/EquipmentBooking.aspx

you will be see two tables, the top one is current bookings so you can check if the boat you want is already booked.

the bottom table will allow you to request the equipment you want including paddles etc.

    Hope that helps.

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Thanks Myles,

For some reason my name is not on the list of Members... Anyway I will keep trying.  But so you know I would like to reserve the RED Pyranha BURN.  I will let the relevant parties know tonight too.

I have my own boat, which I would like to take, but I cannot see how I can get it to the club by Friday.
    Cheers,

    Keir

The Van Plan - the van is full

Sarah and Ian's Van is full. We have had requests from Tom and Yates.

We are taking the following boats

    1. Sarahs Boat;
    2. Dan's Boat;
    3. Ian's boat;
    4. The Hoss for Tom;
    5. The boat ofmiles -  going with Tom and Emma (red prijon, plus a club paddle and a helmet.)
    6-9. Yates's car's boats (4 boats)

we are assuming everyone else has a way of getting their boats there.

Re: The Van Plan - the van is full

    Dan,

Per susi's note above I am in the car with Anne and Richard, which cannot take boats... so I guess thats at least another 3 (that wasn't on your list) that will need to go.

I am sure we can figure it out tonight though. Cheers!

Re: The Van Plan - the van is full

    Keir

As Dan stated we think the van is full - we will be doing some measurements tonight but it looks unlikely.

It is a shame that everyone has assumed that the van will just take their boats (and that the van and crew will load and unload everything) but it looks as though its going to be first come first served on the what goes in the van plan.

Re: The Van Plan - the van is full

No I agree.  Perhaps it is best to work it out tonight when we can work out exactly who is taking who and what, needless to say that we will find a solution, even if that means hiring a trailer or something.

Re: The Van Plan - the van is full

Oh, and in case it needs to be said.

Anyone with boats that go in the van is expected to come back to the basin and help unload. No help-y, no boat-y. No excuse-y[1].

Don't like it. Find another way to get your boat there :)
