Spending options for 5 Feb budget meeting

As everyone is hopefully aware from Lars' post, we have some extra club funds to spend before the end of the financial year in April.

If anyone has any thoughts on what we should be spending on open canoeing please post here so that we can put together a list before the 5 Feb meeting.

From the summer spending round we ended up getting:

    2 x poles
2 x white water outfitting (flotation bags etc. to equip two of the Basin's canoes)

I still think we could do with, say, 6 paddles in a longer length than the Basin ones (which are mostly sized for kids), these are about £20 each so we can push for some more kit if people have good ideas. Suggestions please!

Don't forget that we also have two sails.

Is two boats really enough? You should be at least 3 boats on the river to make it safe and keep within with the club rules...

we could consider a few of those fold up seats to allow repositioning or to seat an extra person if a boat gets damaged but i might be reaching to find a reason for them

Re: Spending options for 5 Feb budget meeting

OK, here is what I propose putting forward as a spending proposal for tomorrow:

    6 x adult sized paddles @ £20 each = £120

    1 x portage trolley @ £75

    Total £195

I'm not sure we need folding seats as the six OT Discos we have already have centre seats and can therefore, at a push, seat three adults. Dan, let me know before tomorrow if you had some other specific need in mind.

As far as outfitting is concerned, I have only got around to buying float bags etc. for two boats in the last couple of weeks and Dimitris and I have done half the work of fitting them out. This should be completed in a week or two, ahead of the [wikipedia:Wales] trip (in case anyone would like to take one of our own boats). Once we have used the outfitted boats on moving water at least once I propose we budget to do two more but until we have actually used them I think it is hard to justify more expenditure.

If anyone has any more suggestions please be sure to let me know before tomorrow evening.

I am sure Lars will post details of all the spending agreed at last week's meeting in due course but this is just to let you know that the modest open canoe proposal above was agreed in full. I'll get it ordered.
