NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

OK...for those of you who couldn't do the last one in April here's the chance to catch the next one.
First - please add your name expressing interest and saying if any particular days are impossible.
Second - you need to be 2-star so that we don't have to find a L3 coach to run the river sessions.

Please note that although I'm starting this thread I'm not intending to lead the next course or organise dates and people...I'm just kicking it off...

    Good luck!

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

    Hi,

I'd like to be on the next sea kayaking course.  I can make all dates in May (except 10, and 24th but could try and rearrange things) and June (except 1st week).  Cheers

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

    I am very intrested.

As for days I can only make tuesdays or fridays in the week (eves.) at present.  I could do a saturday or sunday with advanced planning.

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

I'd like to help, and possibly be shown how to run one of these.

I'm currently available all tuesdays in May and 3rd & 24th June.  Thursdays (if needed) are harder and definitely can't make 15 May or 5th June.

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

I'd be happy to help out with the coaching too.

To be a little more precise: The dates we would have available for coaching in May are:

    Thursday 8 May

    Tuesday 13 May

    Thursday 22 May and

Tuesday 27 May.   If necessary we could skip a week and do an evening in June.

Also, we are planning a beginners trip to Dover on either Saturday 17 May or Saturday 31 May. Keep an eye on the website, we will post some more information on this trip soon.

Also expressing interest, would love to do this. I'm in the same boat as Sam (boom, tish!), need to pass my open canoe before this course starts to get my 2*, have passed kayak 2*, just not open yet.

    Hi all,

Just wanted to inform you that we now have a team to give the instruction: Malcolm, Chris and myself.

We will post the dates as soon as possible, but first I am going to have some fun at the sea kayak symposium in Anglesey, [wikipedia:Wales].

Who knows; if we do a good job with our introduction, you guys will join us next year!

    See you all soon,

    Ailien

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

    Dear all,

Sorry for the very late notice! Steve, Malcolm and Charlie have let me know they would like to help me with the instruction for this course, but it is not easy finding dates that everyone can do.

So, we now have the following dates:

    1st: Tomorrow: 13 May 2008

    2nd: Thursday 22 May 2008

    3rd: Tuesday 27 May 2008

    4th: Thursday 5 June 2008

We will try to organize a sea trip after that, I will let you know the dates later.

James Barrett, Rob Bannocks, Samantha Holt, Gudrun, Gareth C, Klaudia Galucka and Malcolm D have let us know they are interested. Can you all please let me know if you can do those dates?

I know Rob Bannocks will have some trouble with the Thursdays. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do the course only on Tuesdays. As we do not have enough sea kayaks to accomodate everybody, we have agreed that coaching has the priority of the use of the kayaks on Tuesdays every second week, the other weeks the recreational or fitness paddlers can have the priority on the boats. On those weeks we can use the Thursdays for training.

If not everybody can do Tomorrow, I suggest that I take any of you who is interested to the pool to practice rolling instead. In that case we start a week later with the Intro course. Best thing is therefore to take both swimming and kayak stuff.

Again, sorry for the late notice!

    Ailien

Re: NEXT Sea Kayaking Intro course (May/June?)

I deffinitly, cannot do the Thursdays, can I come along on the tuesdays and catch up on the rest on next course (which hopefully will start on a thu and so let me do the bits I missed).

Also what is wrong with a slow burn course - i.e. every second tuesday?  That would fit in with the alternating timetable for the seakayaks.

How does the coming bank holiday sound for a trip?

    Rob
