    Kayak surfing trip

Contrary to discussions some of us had last night I find I can't actually go the weekend of 16th May.  As I'm not going to arrange a trip for a date I can't do I propose the following dates in the pool below:

Please vote.  I'm not sure if you can vote twice to show if you can do two dates but give it a try.

    About the trip

All dates will be subject to there being some reasonable level of surf.  It doesn't have to be perfect surf as we don't have the same requirements for clean waves as surfers do.

As usual, the trip will be for people who can look after themselves in surf .  Therefore, you need to be 3 star minimum and have a pretty decent roll.  That's not to say you have to have kayak surfed before.  But you won't have much fun if you aren't a reasonably strong paddler with some prospect of staying up in the surf.  We always operate a system whereby we have 50% of our team on the beach keeping an eye out and helping people get in and out.  We also try to keep clear of surfers (who find us annoying for some reason) and we encourage beginners to stay inshore in the broken waves whilst they develop control over their direction.

We will go to Llangennith on the Gower Peninsula in South [wikipedia:Wales].  It will be up to individuals to sort out their own travel arrangements.

Accommodation is to be confimed.  If there are enough of us I can try to book a bunk house.  Otherwise people can arrange their own accommodation choosing from options of camping, the Kings Head pub (lovely but not for those on a budget) or local B&Bs.

Let's go surfing C2 I'm looking forward to getting out in the Topo Duo this time!

    Helen,

it didn't work to vote for several dates. Why don't you just pick a weekend kind of soon, and then we can have another surf trip again in not too long?

And I can start filling the weekends there isn't a surf trip...

    thanks!

Re: Kayak surfing trip - 13th June

    Decision time!

13th June as I'm looking too busy in May now anyway.  Sign up here if you fancy surfing - subject to some surf happening somewhere.

May not have time to come back from a meeting in Switzerland on the Friday, but will try to make it work.

    Im in!

Would love to see what a beach looks like this side of the world!  If you think the surfers don't like kayakers here, try surfing at Maroubra beach in Sydney and dealing with these guys, http://www.braboysfilm.com/

    Cheers

    Re: Kayak surfing trip

Yeah..  I think you would find most Sydney beaches a nightmare to try and surf kayak on..     The local surfers don't like non-local surfers let alone someone with a kayak..  Wouldn't want to cut in on one of those Maroubra guys..

    Re: Kayak surfing trip

The surf rep is potentially coming (thanks for invite....)

Hopefully it is Llangennith and camping down there - should be good if weather is good.  Surf is obviously a long shot.

    Dave - give me lift.
