Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

There is no such magic list...

I suggest everyone who currently a) doesn't have a lift or b) a car get toegether soon and work out what is going to be cheapsest.  May a van and a people carrier?

I for one am going early on Friday so I can go paddling, so will not be able to provide lifts.

    Sarah W:

Does anyone know how many boats fit in the back of a transit?

    Sarah

Don't recall exactly how many but we've always managed to get heaps of boats in a transit in the past - more than you'd think.  Should be plently of spare capacity to mop up any boats without a passage.

We can't make it that weekend after all. Have a great time!

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

Gary is having problems posting to the forum (I am working on it Gary ... your choice of user name should not be a factor - at least not technically) and so he asked me to post this for him. The following is based on my notes in the pub and so subject to confusion:

Gary is keen to join the [wikipedia:Wales] trip - there have been some cancellations so numbers should still be OK.

He has a big car and can take 4 people and 4 boats - he could even tow a trailer full of boats.

He has a tent with many rooms that can manage 10 people.

He has an oxyacetylene powered (!!??) barbeque.

He would need a helmet, paddle and a boat - for preference the red Epion (that is what I wrote down - but I am not sure which boat that is).

He is away soon and will be back on 3 August.

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

He think he may have meant the Red Prijon.

A man that can take that many boats and people should be allowed to come!

    Cheers

Absolutely! An excellent addition to any trip.

Also, should we all book our own boats or will "somebody" just book a suitable quantity of boats on our behalf?

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

Yes, I aggree a car and BBQ are helpful,  but one thing that needs to be checked is if Mark is happy to extend the numbers of beginners.  Mark will be responsible for the beginners group so someone should speak to him first.

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Hi Everyone,

think it would be good to just have a list of who is giving who lifts etc as there seems to be quite a bit of confusion (and anxiety).

Can everyone who is driving email me a list of who they are taking and how many spaces they think they have and when they're planning to leave by this coming Monday if possible (I don't need this info from Sarah, Danger and Gary as I found out from them in the pub).   Geoff is going to give me a list off all those who are coming so I can allocate allocate the left over people to cars.   I hope this is ok with drivers - it just seems to make most sense.

I will post a list on Tuesday/wednesday next week of who's going with who and then you can let me know if there's any cocnersn about this.

We still have a bit COACH issue - i.e. lots of people don't have one. Does anyone know if Wendy or anyone else has found another one yet?

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Hey guys,

    Here’s an update.

Wendy has very kindly found us a coach via Kayako Jacko.  He can take between 4 and 6 people and it will be £150 per head (this is the same regardless of the number they take).

There are currently 11 people going who need a coach:

    Keir

    Dan

    Myles

    Susie

    Susi

    Cliff

    Richard

    Sarah

    Andy

    Gary

    Cathy

Do any of these people want to go with the Kayako Jacko coach?  It is always a good idea to get some external coaching so it could be a good opportunity.

Mark can only really take six (there’s still some discussion about this number, I have to confirm how many he can take).  However, what is clear is that he certainly can’t take 11 people.

I also need confirmation from Richard and Andy that they are still coming ASAP.

Lifts are basically sorted but this will depend on the final numbers once the coaching is resolved.

    Thanks

    Susi

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

I couldn't go on Tuesday night but sounds like you have transport sorted.

Is anyone driving come from SW London? My boat is at home (Putney) and would like to take it. I guess I might be able to convince whoever is driving to come past my place and pick up my boat.  If someone is down my way in the next week or so (eg going to Hurley) please give me a shout.  My number is 07825782558.

Otherwise I have two options, paddle down the thames or jump on the tube with it....

    Cheers Keir.

If you can get it to the Basin it can go in the transit but as the taxi drivers say I don't go south of the river

Re: White Water Trip 8th-10th August

    Susi

On the topic of getting outside coaching i can't afford  £150 for coaching,  the same goes for Dan who may not be paddling at all depending on what the water looks like.  Please let us know as soon as possible as we will need to cncel the van booking etc if the only way of going i to pay the extra

     Thanks

p.s. am more than happy to ensure that our on coaches are not out of pocket by going on this trip but suspect keeping them fed and watered is a lot less than £150.
