Re: Dates for Richmond Relay ?

I've booked the yellow aquanaut.  It is booked in Tristan De Luc's name as I still can't access the bookings section under my own name. My preference is to paddle from the basin to Richmond.

Martin, may be if you are looking to paddle back to the basin we could use the same boat?

    Re: Richmond people joining us?

    Dan,

Thanks for keeping the ball rolling ! I am just back from holiday, and will post the "master plan" tonight.

Still waiting to here from Ailien whether we have Richmond participants.

    Cheers

    All,

Please see the master plan posted at the top of this thread (ie replacing the original posting).
We obviously need to get moving quickly to finalise arrangenments...

    Thanks

    Re: Richmond Relay

    Folks,

I've just updated the master plan again with the latest "pairings".

With 3 days to go, I've still not heard about any Richmond Club participants, so I think we should now move to close off our own THCC pairings.
That still leaves the possibility of some Richmond paddlers joining us at the last minute, providing they come in as AM/PM pairs.

    With this is mind:

Cliff/Richard - you have both bid for Aquanauts, but both in the same (preferred) direction, and one yellow, one purple ! Would it work for one of you to change shift, and paddle the same boat ?

MartinK  - any chance of you and I sharing a boat ? I want to paddle PM, and am happy with anything lowish-volume - eg my own KS Viking, or a THCC Avocet ?

    Cheers
    Tony

    Re: Richmond Relay

    Hi Tony

I've discussed it with Cliff and I am happy to do the PM leg and share boat and equipment with Cliff.  We have all the necessary gear, which we shall share, and therefore only require a boat from the club.  The colour of the Aquanaut doesn't bother me too much!  I just chose it from the list of club boats when booking.

    Martin,

No reply from you despite a site message and a text.
If I don't hear by 17:00 tonight, I will assume you are out of circulation and not paddling tomorrow.
(I'll then show up myself for the AM slot and paddle my own boat both ways).

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/london_forecast_weather.html  sez there is a little bit of wind. Gusts of up to 30 mph.

    that all good ?

    Dan Abel:

...Gusts of up to 30 mph. that all good ?

    I don't see that as a problem.
Other sites I've cheked are saying typically 12 mph (F3) and coming from the South (mostly neutral to our direction).

I may live to regret this - as I'm now paddling both ways...:)

    Re: Richmond Relay

Superb trip, I thought the conditions were close to perfect and loved every minute.

Thanks to Tony for organising and Ailien for the Richmond club contact as well as the opportunity to try a different kind of boat, what a cool club. I also found it encouraging that kayakers can function and prosper using common sense rather than relying on the BCU bible to make each and every decision. Top day thanks once again
