Level 1 Coaching course at the Basin

Will, one of the Basin's coaches is organising an L1 course at the Basin.  I think he said it is the last two weekends before Christmas. He also said it will be really good value as he is planning to get a big group together.

Contact Will at SBOAC if you are interested.

Re: Level 1 Coaching course at the Basin

Will from the basin tells me that this course is now full.  However if you want to go on an L1 course there is likely to be another at the basin in January.  See the post in the instructors forum (you will need to login to see this forum).

This is most likely because you are not registered as a member of the club (see the THCC non-member on the left hand side of your posts). Assuming you are, I'd contact the web master to see if he has a few minutes to correct your account.

Re: Level 1 Coaching course at the Basin

    Hi John,

I am doing the Level 1 course in January but incase you don't already have it the Foundation Safety and Rescue course is a pre-req for the L1.

As I don't have mine yet I have arranged a Foundation Safety and Rescue course on Saturday 10th January @ Lee Valley Canoe Centre just in time for the L1 in the basin.

At the moment there is 2 people registered but they can take up to 6 people.  If you are interested let me know or phone the centre directly.

It will cost £50 for BCU members and £60 for non-BCU members.

Pre-requisites are the new BCU 2 Star.

Please note a lot of time will be spent in the water doing rescues so a good wetsuit with neoprene gloves and boots or a dry suit is recommended.

Re: Level 1 Coaching course at the Basin

    Hi Vicky,

    Thanks for your reply.

I've been looking everywhere for the FSRT course as most places seem to be offering it after they hold the level 1 course.

Thanks for the info, I have spoken to Dave Webb at Lee Valley Canoe Club and i'm now  booked onto the FSRT, 10th Jan.

I've down loaded the Registration forms for the level 1 course and will send them off tomorrow.  Although Dave did mention that it might be possible to register online.

If there are any places on the Level 1 course in January, would it be possible to book a place as i really don't want to miss out.

I have tried to contact William Tytler on the number given but i'm assuming the club is closed for the hols.  I'll try again on Monday.

    Thanks for your help Vicky.

    Hopefully see you Saturday.

    Take care

    John

Re: Level 1 Coaching course at the Basin

    Hi, griffin,

    a few points.

    1.  The course at the Basin in January is not being organised by Will at the basin, it is now being organised by Susie Fansworth (the social secretary).  To register for the L1 course please contact Susie and also Isle of White Sea Kayaing (http://www.iow-seakayaking.co.uk/, tel  01983 752043) whith whom you will need to register (and pay and  soon too).

    2. Last I heard there were places on the January course.  (contact Susie for full details).
