    Basin 'Mad River' Canoes

I noticed at the weekend that at least one of the mad city canoes have some holes already drilled for white water outfitting - the one i saw didn't have a full set - but it might give people a start if we were to fit some out. And maybe there is one of the siz with most of the work done.

The guys running the Coaching course pointed out that these boats are also in danger of getting damaged  - There is no cap or cover at the ends of these boats so the middle construction is exposed to water, which, we were told makes them ill and die.

Should we pass this info to the basin, or look to fix them ourselves?

Dan, we don't have any Mad River canoes but I think you mean the ones stored outside the River Cage (I think they are made by Mobile Adventure). These boats are rather old and very heavy and I suspect that, for the amount of use they get, The Basin may not feel it is worthwhile to spend time and resources on them.

The plan to fit flotation to two boats is advancing and I now have a quote and some advice from Endless River and Dimitris has offered to help me do the work one Tuesday. We intend to add the fittings to two of the newer and (slightly) lighter Old Town Discovery canoes aka "Discos".

Cool. I just guessed the brand as it was rubbing off and i could see a M and an A *grin*

I thought they were lighter than the Discoveries. That time at the gym must be paying off.
