    Club Boats?

    Hi

I'm a prospective member, moving to London next week from South Africa. Just interested to know what boats are available (playboats and/or creekers) through the club? (I'm unlikely to have my own for a few months at least...)

I currently paddle a Fluid Flirt (large) and only really fit in huge boats, so am particularly wondering if there are any of those available...

    Cheers

    -Dave

    Re: Club Boats?

    Hi Dave,

We have a good selection of creek/river runners.  Includiig  Hoss, Mamba, Burn, GTX, Prijon, heaps of other daggers.  I think in total there are about 33 boats that can be used on rivers etc.   We have less payboats but do have a number of Liquid Logics and Pyranhas.

I am sure you will fit in a GTX or the Burn (L)..

Most of the serious White Water Guys/Girl have their own boats.

    Cheers,

    Geoff

    Re: Club Boats?

Thanks Geoff - that sounds great. Will be looking at getting a boat in the near future, just need to wait for the finances etc to stabilise after the move :-)

OT: What do I need to do in terms of BCU qualifications etc? I presume I need a 3 star qualification to go on river trips?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Re: Club Boats?

    Hey Dave

I'm Dave, and my friend Dave, who is from SA and paddles at the club, is waiting for his very own Flirt to arrive from your shores.... if you ask him nicely  I am sure he'll let you borrow it from time to time.

Dave has earned the monikers 'SA Dave' and 'Biltong' and I too have a range of offensive nicknames to distinguish me from other Daves so we should be ok.

Hope to welcome you to our fine club soon, Dave.

And to answer your question to Geoff, no, you don't need your 3* to paddle with us.

    Cheers

    Dave

    Yes

Will be getting a flirt Medium but you're welcome to give it a try. Boats are kinda pricey here - you may just find yourself doing a bit of importing of your own.

Good luck with finances - see you on the water.

    Re: Club Boats?

Was thinking of bringing my boat over actually - just didn't quite have the room this time... I don't fit in a medium but thanks for the offer :-)

Is that David Collett of the Fish River Colletts?

    Re: Club Boats?

Ha not the David Collett from the Fish River Collett's but a relative thereof. Done the Fish a couple of times though and was quite intrigued to come across Collett's weir and Keith’s flyover.

Virgin is the only airline that flies large canoes up to 32kg completely free of charge and hassle free – something worth bearing in mind.
