    DORSET 7 & 8 June CLUB TRIP

    Dear piddlers  paddlers,

Looks like Malcome H and I will be going to Dorset weekend of 7 & 8 June.

In the absence of other proposals I suggest we make this the club's June Sea kayaking trip...

I will probably aim for a 3 day weekend.
This trip is certainly open to 3-stars but if we/you can organise any Level 3 coaches then 2* also eligible.
No itinerary as yet but there are cliffs and caves and Poole harbour (small inland sea), good campsite by River Frome (Wareham), Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Kimmeridge Bay, Old Harry (chalk stacks & pinnacles) and tide races (Peverill might be good for practice and training assuming we have the right paddlers/conditionsweather.

There is very little time to get this sorted out.
If you are interested please add your name & say whether you have a vehicle (& if so, then how many bodies/boats/gear it can carry).

    Roll up, roll up.

     Hello,

I would love that - 2* currently, but if we manage to encourage an L3 - count me in!

Re: DORSET 7 & 8 June CLUB TRIP

    Hi Nick,

Would definitely be intrested, have a vehicle with roofrack and trailer if need be for gear but would have to check if Alison was going to come as to how many could get in as seating in the back of Landrover is pretty naff, but maybe could take Alisons car if she was going to come and can put roof bars on that.

Hi Nick I'd love to come on this trip with you and Malcolm. I have car and roofrack that can take up to 3 passengers and one additional boat.
    O London, see
Swelling with naval pride, the pride of thee!
Wide, deep, unsullied Thames, meandering glides,
and bears thy wealth on mild majestic tides.

Re: DORSET 7 & 8 June CLUB TRIP

    Dear all,
    Numbers are looking healthy.
Malcolm and I would be driving down on Thursday night, intending to paddle Friday, Saturday and a short session on Sunday.  Camping probably at Wareham but not fixed yet.
I will start looking at tides and trying to plan possible itineraries/options taking in to account different wind & weather.

    We need that L3 coach!

Can anyone else come and paddle on the Friday to let us make the most of the trip?

Re: DORSET 7 & 8 June CLUB TRIP

the club do not have a L3 sea coach unless we pursuade Mattias back (and I don't think you are going to pursuade Mark to go sea kayaking)  As a suggestion one of the non 3*'s could contact the basin to find out how much it would cost for them to provide an L3 coach for that weekend and see if it is worth them splitting the cost of this between them.

    DORSET 7 & 8 June

    Dear all,

    What days can you paddle?

Malcolm and I aim to drive down late on Thursday evening to allow a good day's paddling on Friday.
Saturday would then be a full day and Sunday probably a shorter day.
I'm discussing dates and prices for supply of a local L3 coach but they need to know when we actually want them for!

    Please tell us now...

Will let you know rates as soon as I know.

    Re: DORSET 7 & 8 June

    Hi Nick,

I'm keen to paddle Friday & Saturday but can't do Sunday.

I'll probably head down to get there first thing Friday morning, and would have space for 3 people & a couple of boats if needed?

Luckily, our Isle of Wight group came home windswept, knackered & early but all with our 3*s Sea...  and plans to go back for more!

    Looking forward to it
    Cheers

    Re: DORSET 7 & 8 June

    Dear all,

First for the 2-stars: Roger, Alison, Klaudia.  We could get L3 coach for 2 days but if it's only the 3 of you you'd each be paying more than £50.
I think we/you need to find an alternative date and gather half a dozen 2-stars, possibly could manage more paddlers if the L3 coach has good back-up from more experienced paddlers.

    3-stars:  latest position; We have:
Malcolm, Nick, Justin, Martin, Sean, Dimitris, Joanna (and possibly Anne and Greg.)
Malcolm will take me and 2 boats on Thursday night.
Justin will take someone else and two boats VERY early Friday morning.
Others have not made clear when they will be paddling.

I suggest you all book the boats you want - check they have working skegs!
No clear itinerary is fixed...if we knew people's movements it would be a bit easier.
Could possibly do a camping trip (i.e. boats loaded, arrive at wild camp spot), or could just do day trips.
    It's all weather dependant anyway.
I also suggest we all need to take helmets as we can't tell what conditions will be like - so book them and collect them too.

I can't paddle this Tuesday so need someone else (Martin?) to collect the group shelter, one flare pack, throw line, club VHF (unless you bring your own) and a helmet for me - medium.
I shall bring my own flares, VHF, towline and usual personal kit.

Please email me personal message so I have contacts for all.

    See you there!!!
