Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Hi All,
There has been a fair few discussions about how we are getting everyone to Hurley (or a similar location) on Saturday.
So here goes:
The following people will meet at the basin at 9am on Saturday Morning:
Geoff
Ian Higgs
Dave C
Dave B
Paul C
Neil
Yatsey
Kier **
Richard
Hanna
Cliff
Tristan
Phil
We have 3 cars that can take boats, and an additional car (Phils) that can take people.
So we need to fits 13 people into 4 cars (easy) and 13 boats on 3 cars. This should be achievable as we should be able to get 5 on my roof.
We should get to Hurley by 11 and will paddle for 2 or 3 hours. I suspect we will stop in at the Red Lion on the way home but we should be back by 5.
Additional people are welcome but will need to provide their own transport.
See you all Saturday,
Geoff
** There may be a previous arrangement here to pick you up on the way?

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Looks like car transport is viable if we all breathe in turns, but FYI:
I have confirmed that I could hire a Luton for 65 for the day (with tail-lift - the ones without TL are 59 but all booked). We know this can take vast numbers of boats (anybody remember how many?) so we could take extra boats if people want to try others. It could also be handy as a changing room.
I could also hire a long wheelbase transit (Ford Transit HiTop) for 59 for the day. I imagine that this is good for at least a dozen boats, but we have not tried it yet. Internal Dimensions are - Length: 10ft 8ins / 3265mm - Height: 6ft 1ins / 1855mm - Width: 5ft 7ins / 1736mm
I could collect the van at 8am on Saturday and be at the basin ASAP after 9.
I am happy to do this, but I am on a course (First Aid course!) during tomorrow and will not see e-mail or the forum before the hire place shuts. If we do want either van then somebody needs to text me (07964-801123) before 5pm or this will delay booking the van to Friday (may be a bit risky). If the consensus is that cars are OK, then a text would be good too.
/Ian

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Thanks very much for getting this all sorted - looking forward to it, fingers crossed for some sun!
As discussed with some people on tues, if anyone has spare neoprene spraydecks please can you bring them as there are a few of us without any and maybe a good opportunity to see which is the best to buy,
thanks,
Hannah

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
This is what we want.. Lets hope they are right.
Heavy, Thundery Rain / Local Flooding
Areas Affected: Southern England
An area of low pressure continues to approach the south coast this evening bringing with it some potentially thundery downpours that have developed over northern France this afternoon.
A period of moderate to heavy and potentially thundery rain is expected to reach the south coast later on this evening before spreading further north into other parts of southern England by morning.
Some locally very large rainfall totals are possible with up to 40 to 50mm possible in some cases, especially where any embedded thunderstorm activity is present. Elsewhere a general 20 to 30mm is possible within 12 to 24 hrs. Some localised flooding is possible, especially in prone areas.

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Here's hoping...
I got my shiny new Allstar last night from Shepperton, interesting bringing it back on the train and the tube...
I've also bought some nose clips last night so will bring a few spares should anyone need one.

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Keen as.
I think as Geoff noted Dave may have suggested that he pick me up, but I think it may be more convenient just to meet at the basin. So I will be there at 9 AM. It will just be a pain in the ass for Dave.
Cheers and see you all tomorrow. Lets hope it rains hard.
Keir

Re: Hurley Logistics (Sat 17th May)
Thanks to Geoff, Paul, Neil, yatesy, drivers and everyone else
who helped make the trip happen with rescues and stuff. It was an excellent
paddling session, little stiff today but keen for more .
