Sea Swimmers race needs kayak cover 13 July

Dear Kayaking friends, Sally Goble asked me to post this for her friend, Simon Murie, the founder of Swimtrek (http://www.swimtrek.com) who is organising a swimming race in the home of Channel swimming in a few weeks. He has support from 6 six ribs but is desperately looking for some kayak support as well. Can you help? There is a small payment for your time. The details are below. Please call Simon directly if you can get involved - I guess he needs to know quite soon.

As discussed this sea swim is for Charity and proceeds will be benefiting Ordinary 2 Extraordinary http://www.o2e.org/ Everything for the event is in place. We have RIBs sorted (6 in total) and also all the necessary permissions. All we are now short of is canoeists/kayakers and hopefully this is where you could help out. We have estimated that we will need between 6-10 canoeists/kayakers to cover the event.

We would pay the canoeists £50 each for their time. We would only need them from 8.30am until 11am on Sunday 13th July.

The event information is as follows.

    Event Date:  Sunday 13th July

    Start Time:  9.30am

Proposed Start Point:  Beach to the west of Samphire Hoe (OS284387). We have the permission of Samphire Hoe Warden to access this beach and bring vehicles through to it.

    Proposed Finish Point:  ShakespeareBeach(OS318403)

    Swim Distance:  3 1Ž2km (???)

Expected Number of Swimmers:  30-50 maximum

Bad Weather Contingency:  If there is poor weather, we would then hold the event in the protection of Dover Harbour.

Please give me a call me if you have any ideas or any one would be able to help cover this event.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Many thanks

    Simon Murie
