Training for BCU Qualifications

The club provides instructor lead coaching and training up to BCU 3 star level (currently in sea kayaking and white water paddling). You can download a copy of our club training log here. This allows you to keep a record of your progress and trips, and includes the full 1 - 3 star syllabus.
To qualify for the star awards you will need to complete a number of trips. Club trips happen throughout the year and will be advertised on the website.
Once paddlers have their 3 star award, they will be allowed to go out on the Tuesday evening runs, in groups of not less than three. See our River Rules. For 3 star paddlers new to paddling on the Thames we will be running 'Introduction to the Thames' sessions at regular intervals throughout the year.
After 3 star we can point you in the direction of further specialist training in areas such as sea kayaking, white water paddling and instructor qualifications.
