The club runs a structured course for beginners every month except December. The course runs over four consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting on the first Tuesday of each month. Dates and availability are available from the online booking form.
The course is based around the syllabus for the BCU One Star. Following this course people generally join the club and continue towards their BCU 2 Star award.
The club also provides coaching and training towards the different BCU 3 Star awards, although these are generally completed and assessed outside the club.
To qualify for the star awards you will need to complete a number of trips. Club trips happen throughout the year and are advertised in the forum.
We can point you in the direction of further specialist training in areas such as sea kayaking, white water kayaking and coaching qualifications.
