Welfare Officer

Welfare officer:

• Support the Shadwell Basin staff if there are any concerns about members’ conduct towards children and young people (this is very rare/ not happened).
• Support any coaches or leaders who want to volunteer at the basin youth activities – the basin would be responsible for DBS checks.
• Work with the Chair to make any referrals for adults who seem to be at risk – this would normally be done by ensuring the right support structures are in place, not being over all responsible for any support needed.
• Working with the rest of the committee to resolve any disputes or accusations that the code of conduct is being broken such as bullying or intimidation.
• Tuesday point of contact for any club or paddling-related welfare issues.
• Administering the Toby Carr bursary.
